Tuesday 2/2/2015 - Doolan's Bend to Corowa

2139km - 2070km

An early morning with a great sunrise. Some would say the morning was early because of Sarg's snoring, but I am sure that is only a story. I am still feeling sore from yesterday and find it hard to get going. I am glad the setup changes I made last night has made paddling more comfortable. It is going to be a long day.

Everybody has made changes to the packing and have found extra space in the boat.

The first stop is Howlong and we filled out water bladders and used the loo. We headed off for Shaw's Flat for lunch. We take one of the anabranches in the area down past Police Paddocks and a number of other good looking camping spots. The smaller water course has some fantastic old trees which are only being held up by their roots, no soil.  A swim and lunch was very welcome.

The afternoon continues to be hot and we frequently wet shirts and hats to stay cool.

We came across two other groups also making their way from Albury to Goolwa. The first two guys were doing 20km a day so they should be there in about 110 days. The next couple were also taking it slowly and expected to 90 days. Makes our 49 days sound ambitious, that work thing really gets in the road.

We soon get to Corowa where we had an ice cream and filled our water bladders again. A short paddle and we find a great beach and camping spot opposite the Corowa Golf Club. Tony decides to paddle across and organise some beers, Meanwhile am enjoying my hot chocolate.
