Thursday 4/2/2016 - Lake Mulwala to Yarrawonga

2010km - 1987km

A nice sunrise over the lake and the sounds of Kookaburras wake us at 6 and  we get out of our new homes. Last night Sarg and Tony had to fight off a water rat whilst EJ had a close encounter with a possum. It was probably the marshmallows over the fire which attracted them.

Today is an. easy day on the water as we head off around our small island into the lake proper. The water is shallow as we head between river channels. Bang, there is another stump, look out, whoops, etc.

The best part of the trip is seeing the bird life on the lake. The the black swans are everywhere and it is remarkable that they even get airborne. They run on the water for 100m before lift off and then it seems they are to tied to stay in the air so they land again, waiting for us to catch them again.

We paddle close to the bank to check out the nice houses and by 10:30 we reach our destination. Phil was waiting for us as promised. Sarg delivered a bottle of red for Phil's services and we promptly start the ferry process to the caravan park. Thomo and Tony takes the opportunity to take a close look at the bridge, from underneath.

Woohoo, we pass our first big milestone for the trip. We pass the 2000km to go mark.

A lazy afternoon of repacking, eating and drinking (water).  Janice and John arrive for a visit and it is good to see them again. Thanks for driving me around town 😘

Now it is time for a good dinner before head off again bush camping for the next 5 days. Echuca bound.
