Sunday 7/2/2016 - Clarke's Camp to Picnic Point

1843km - 1790km

Up and at it again at first Kookaburra. On the water at 7:30. A nice paddle into the Murray River national park, otherwise known as the Barmah Forest. Speed boats disappear and campsites go from caravans to tents as we get into the park. Great to have the river almost to ourselves again.

The big banks and sand beaches are now very low deep banks and at places the water is running at bank height. We can see clearly into the red gum forest as we paddle by. We soon discovered that find places to stop is near impossible. We finally find a place for lunch, although it was hard to get in and out of the boat.

It is now hot in the afternoons and this is really zapping the energy. I made a fatal mistake in the heat and lost my sunglasses overboard. Thanks to Tinky for lending me a spare pair.

We start to see more speedboats so we know we are nearing Picnic Point. It is a very welcome sight and we head for the caravan park. As we pull the boats up and get the wheels on them we start to chat with Spanner. That's for the Coke and beer Spanner.

Dinner is being had at the Mathoura Bowling Club. Good food and airconditioning. We won eggs and bacon in the raffle so this will be had for breakfast. It is now time to head home and to bed.
